Boys Bedroom Sets

Boy’s Bedroom:
Is your little tyke growing up to be quite the young man? Every parent wants to offer their little boy a space that is a reflection of their personality and interests. At this point, your son has outgrown his toddler-sized furniture and is ready to embrace a more mature look in his bedroom. Planes, trains, trucks and toys, there’s nothing quite like little boys! That being said, transform your son’s room with that boyhood spirit he has always wanted! The idea is to try to combine his interests with practicality and quality, so that his furniture can last… until he reaches his tween years of course!

Bed:
If you’re looking to change his bed, then you do not have one of those transformable cribs that can go from a crib to a daybed, and even a double bed! If your son had a toddler bed, then he likely outgrew it a while ago, and so you need something a little more mature-looking to mesh well with the new bedroom theme. Among the favorites for little boys are bunk bedsloft beds and trundle beds which are awesome for sleepovers. They are fun, functional and provide great storage!

Dresser:
Next, you need a dresser. Once you’ve chosen the bed, you can take a look at the matching dresser. However, if bedroom space is an issue, then a tall dresser is the better choice. You can still have loads of storage, but in a vertical manner.

Desk:
At this point, the little guy is not likely to get any homework assignments, but you can always opt for a desk as a craft station. That way you can tame the mess and keep it local! Eventually, he will get homework anyway!

Nightstand:
Last, but not least, the nightstand is a must for his bedside. It’s less likely to be a piece that is emphasized in a nursery set, but now you can get the matching nightstand for his new set. Aside from being handy for extra storage, he can use it to display home décor such as a table lamp, frames and an alarm clock.

Girls Bedroom Sets

Girl’s Bedroom:
Is your little girl growing up fast and out of her baby furniture? Bye-bye baby, hello young lady! Every parent wants to make their little girl feel like a princess, by offering them a space that reflects their unique personality. Yes, redecorating can be quite overwhelming, but the idea is to incorporate some of your daughter’s main interests into an overall scheme. That way, she can enjoy her room for years to come…until she hits her tweens of course!

The bed:
If you’re looking to change her bed, you’ve most likely kept your daughter’s transformable crib or toddler bed until she outgrew it. Now you can go for something a little more mature-looking to mesh well with her theme. By this point, most little girls admire princesses. So the question is, how do you picture a princess bed? Most girls are taken by a poster bed or daybed! They have that princess quality! A neat feature that would really come in handy is the option of adding a trundle below. That way, your daughter can enjoy sleepovers!

Dresser:
Then there’s the dresser. Choosing the perfect bedroom furniture means getting the look, along with the function and quality. If bedroom space is an issue, selection a tall dresser would be a better option. Although a little girl may not need all of the storage space just yet, who’s to say she won’t eventually become a frequent mall visitor at some point! Even princesses like to change dresses.

Desk:
Another important piece is a desk. Although you might be selecting these furniture pieces before your daughter is subjected to any homework assignments, you can begin by using it as a craft station.

Nightstand:
Finally, how can we forget the nightstand? Every bedside is in need of one!  This is a piece that is not as likely to be included in a nursery. However, at this stage, it can come in handy for extra storage or to display décor such as a table lamp, frames and an alarm clock!

The September Equinox

The Autumnal Equinox: A Great Time For Lighting Your Home

As you know, the autumnal equinox is an astronomical event that occurs once yearly in which the Earth orbits around the sun. At that moment, the sun crosses the celestial equator, in order to enter the sky’s northern hemisphere. It is said that after this event, days and nights are almost the same length. However, this also means that days are shorter than in periods of solstice, which in turn requires more lighting. Therefore, this is the perfect timing to ensure that your home is well-lit in the absence of daylight. Let’s take a closer look at some stylish and efficient light fixtures for your home:

1)      Floor lamps:
The floor standing lamp is a traditional fixture that comes in different shapes and designs. It is a great way to add style & ambiance to a room, since they do not cover as much ground. This fixture is perfect for a living room, as it can serve well for reading or lighting the room while enjoying your favorite tv shows.

2)      Pendant light:
A pendant light fixture is one that hangs from the ceiling by means of a cord, chain or rod. It usually includes one to several lightbulbs that are not combined into one single unit. The beauty of this fixture-type is that you can find many styles, colors, and even textures! From vintage-inspired glass, to industrial metal and a casual organic weave, a pendant light fixture will bring a unique accent to your room.

3)      Table lamps:
The table lamp is yet another classic. This lamp will ensure that any table in your home has perfect lighting. It is the ultimate measure to fine-tune your atmosphere in a room, whether you need extra lighting or want to dim the room. They come in a number of shapes, sizes and colors. From bold to muted, you will not have any difficulty finding your desired look.

Choosing a light fixture has become less mundane, as today’s wide selection will not only help you achieve a well-lit room, but also give you an abundance of style options.

Traditional Home Decor

Traditional Home Design:

Traditional furniture & home décor has thrived for so long and with reason! Although the traditional style is stale and outdated, a look that reflects the past preserves a sense of familiarity and comfort. Traditional deemed rooms emphasize formal arrangements which encourage conversation, with curvy furniture that avoids sharp angles and neutral colors that do not make a large statement. Instead, beauty is found in the finishing touches, such as molding and trims. If a piece is not timeless, then it is not graceful enough to fit in this type of décor! Here is a traditional home décor video to help you get started.

Modern Interior Design

Modern Home Design

Contrary to popular belief, modern and contemporary are not interchangeable designs. A modern design is best known for its clean lines, open floor plans and minimalist décor. In fact, modern design has a historical inclination, as seen in mid-century modern and art deco styles. Instead, contemporary design encompasses various styles that are current.

Now that we nipped that in the bud, you may want to check out Benchcraft & Signature Design for an effortless modern look. Let your furniture design speak for itself by being the spotlight in your space.

This video will highlight the main differences between a modern and contemporary design – a great nugget of information:

Contemporary Home Design

Contemporary Home Design

A contemporary design emphasizes a bold and trendy look. It also highlights shapes, textures and beautiful natural materials such as jute. Unlike in modern or traditional spaces, one that is contemporary is not afraid of using color. Having said this, using color is a reflection of personal taste, contrary to a monochrome palette. In addition, this specific home design is constantly evolving to keep up with trends. Yes, classic is timeless, but so is mundane. Keeping one guessing will never be uneventful!

Signature Design evokes these dramatic design ideas quite well. This Ashley sub-brand is worthy of emulating a contemporary home décor. Browse our Signature Design products to view our wide variety of colors, shapes and textures. In fact, here is a video to inspire your desired look:
